Programme for religious sisters

Jesus Youth was invited to conduct a one-day programme for ‘Sisters of the Destitute’. It was held on 14th May at their provincial house in Najafgarh, New Delhi. The day began with the music ministry and the sisters coming together in a joyful “praise & worship”. As one of the music ministry members confessed, it felt like being with the choirs of angels, as the voices of the Sisters rose in proclamation and praise. A session on “our call for mission” was taken by Joseph Sebastian, followed by a dynamic session on “youth animation” by Fr. Stanley Kozhichira, spiritual advisor of JY Delhi. Post lunch, an encouraging and interactive panel sharing with five young JYs was conducted. The day concluded with an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

Communion 2009

communion-mass091

Venue: I.A.R.I., New Delhi
Dates : 10-12 February, 2009
Report by: Jem Jacob

February 10-12 was truly a blessed time & a dream come true for many a Jesus Youth in Delhi. For these were the days of ‘Communion 09′, when 35 priests & religious from various dioceses of North India converged together in the calm & serene environs of Indian Agricultural Research Institute campus in New Delhi to share, learn and plan about ways to conquer the youth of North India for the Lord.

This programme was a gathering of priests & religious supporting Jesus Youth movement in various capacities in North India, on the lines of ‘Communion 08’ but on a regional level. The programme was one of a kind in considering that it was coordinated by priests who had attended ‘Communion 08’, with the assistance of Jesus Youth. Fr. Santosh Vazhappalli was the coordinator of the programme and was ably supported by Fr. Jas Elanjickal, the Spiritual animator of JY Delhi, who was also the Mobilisation coordinator as well as Fr. Mathew of CBCI, who was incharge of the programme planning.

The various sessions conducted by prominent JY leaders & Animators like Dr. Edward Edezhath, Fr.Bitaju, C.C.Joseph, Fr.Dheeraj Sabu, IMS & Santosh Chittilapally of Santvana community were interspersed with Holy Eucharist & sessions of Praise & Worship, sharing of testimonies, sharing sessions, Taize prayer, Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and had ample amounts of action songs too in which the priests and religious actively participated. The topics covered included “Today’s Youth”, “Youth Ministry”, “Vocation to religious life & priesthood”, “Youth Animation, Pastoring and Mentoring”, etc which were thought-provoking and enriching at the same time.

The concluding day of the programme included a planning & evaluation session. The response shown by the participant priests & religious was heartening and the eagerness shown by them to go back and work with the youth in their areas was a truly an encouraging sign and one surely hopes that this programme would be a milestone in ushering in a new beginning for the Jesus Youth in North India.
